  • What is Gold Vermeil?

Vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with a thick layer of gold. It is about 5 times thicker than regular plating. Vermeil is much less susceptible to tarnishing. All our vermeil jewellery is marked with a 925 stamp, referring to the sterling silver base.
  • What is Sterling Silver?

Sterling silver is also known as 925 silver. It is made up of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. The addition of a small amount of copper to the silver makes it much stronger than pure silver would be. The copper does mean that sterling silver will tarnish overtime but this discolouration can easily be polished away to return it to its original state.
  • Care instructions

While jewellery here at OAT is made to last, its life will depend on how you care for it in your everyday use. To make your jewellery last a long time keep it away from chemicals like cleaning products and chlorine. Take it off before swimming and exercise. Even the chemicals and oils in makeup, perfume and lotions can be damaging over a long time. To keep it from being caught and scratched on zips and clothing your jewellery should be the last thing you put on at the start of the day and the first thing you take off at the end of the day.
